VINEYARDS AND WINE
Mèdol Garnatxa Cabernet without sulfites comes from vines cultivated in organic farming located in La Nou de Gaia, a small town located in the Tarragona province about 4 km straight to the Mediterranean Sea. The soils are generally sandy loam of low fertility. The grapes ripen perfectly thanks to the warm weather and marinade; the marinade is the sea breeze early in the morning blowing in our vineyards, avoiding excess heat in grapes and causing a sanitizing effect on the vineyard.
Once harvested the grapes are destemmed and stainless steel tanks are filled. The duration of maceration is 10 days at a temperature of 20 to 22°C.
After the maceration, the grapes are pressed in two phases. In the first phase, the wine obtained with lower pressures is decanted into stainless steel tanks. In the second phase, the grapes are subjected to higher pressures, obtaining the so-called “pressed wine” which it’s straight rejected from the Mèdol wine. The proportion of varieties within the cupage is 60% Garnatxa, 35% Carbernet Sauvignon and 5% Cartoixà. The Cartoixà variety is white but added to the blend to favor the processes of pigmentation, which improve the stabilization of the color of wine. It is worth mentioning that at no time clarifiers or stabilizers have been added, nor sulfites or substitutes. It is a wine made only from grapes, more natural impossible!
Intense red color with good layer. Wine usually has reductive notes – the reductive factor is what protects young wines from oxidation. In the nose, we find notes of red and black fruit (cherries, blackberries, blueberries …). Stresses its intensity. In the mouth it is fresh, bulky, very round, soft and fatty. We recommend the decantation of the bottle to promote the opening of the wine. His lack of added sulfites and lack of sugar residues makes it very suitable for people sensitive to sulfur (antiseptic and preservative) and / or sensitive people drinking. It will improve in the bottle over the coming years.
