Vines cultivated in organic farming located in La Nou de Gaia, a small town located in the Tarragona province about 4 km straight to the Mediterranean Sea. The soils are generally sandy loam of low fertility. The grapes ripen perfectly thanks to the warm weather and marinade; the marinade is the sea breeze early in the morning blowing in our vineyards, avoiding excess heat in grapes and causing a sanitizing effect on the vineyard. Once harvested the grapes are destemmed and stainless steel tanks are filled. The duration of maceration is 20 days at a temperature of 22 to 24°C.
After the maceration, the grapes are pressed in two phases. In the first phase, the wine obtained with lower pressures is decanted into stainless steel tanks. In the second phase, the grapes are subjected to higher pressures, obtaining the so-called “pressed wine” which it’s straight rejected from the Mèdol Selection wine. With the first phase pressed wine we proceed to fill French oak and chestnut barrels of 225 liters where is aged for 12 months until bottling. The proportion of varieties within the cupage is 60% Grenache, 55% Carbernet Sauvignon and 5% Cartoixa. It is worth mentioning that at no time clarifiers or stabilizers have been added, nor sulfur or substitutes. It is a wine made only from grapes, more natural impossible!
Intense red with good layer color. The wine is very frank in nose are notes of red and black fruit (cherries, blackberries, blueberries…). We also find toast, vanilla, smoky notes… highlights its intensity. The palate is fresh, bulky and has no fat. Very round and soft palate. His lack of added sulfites and lack of sugar residues makes it very suitable for people sensitive to sulfur (antiseptic and preservative) and / or sensitive people drinking. It will improve in the bottle over the coming years.
